What do you get when you cross an X-acto knife and sheets of black paper? You get what ever the imagination of Alexis McQuilkin wants to give you. In this case, it is a collection of food related paper cuts titled Crumbs on the Cutting Board. Inspired by Edward Gorey's Gashlycrumb Tinies, Crumbs on the Cutting Board distinctively combines hard graphic lines with "colorful" pages from vintage cookbooks and home economic texts. Not your usual collection of edibles, this abecedarium features off the wall caricatures of foods such as Nopales and Xanthan Gum. |
